Organizing a legacy is more than filing papers
Useful preparation can include documents, context, and a clear note about where originals are kept. Some people begin with identity records, property papers, insurance information, or practical instructions. Others start by writing down wishes they want to discuss with family or a qualified professional.
A simple organizer can help keep those pieces in one account. It cannot make decisions for you, validate a legal document, or guarantee another person will receive information at a future time.
Keep your wishes and records distinct
FinalFile separates its Document Vault, practical notes, Will Organizer, and Trusted Contacts areas. The Will Organizer is a place to gather wishes, decision-maker details, and notes about where records are located. It is a planning aid, not a Will-writing service.
Important: FinalFile does not draft, execute, witness, or validate Wills. It is not legal advice. For legal documents and decisions, speak with a qualified professional in your jurisdiction.
Be precise about trusted contacts
A name in a contacts list does not by itself grant access to private records. FinalFile's Trusted Contacts list stores contact details; it does not give that person access to your documents, notes, or Will content. Access and future handoff should never be assumed from a contact entry alone.
Protect what you choose to store
Uploaded Document Vault files are encrypted before storage. Keep the encryption key backed up separately and securely, because losing the key may make encrypted files unrecoverable. Do not store passwords, bank-login credentials, or private encryption keys in your organizer. Review account limits and product capabilities before uploading documents.
Prepare thoughtfully, without overpromising
FinalFile is a private personal organizer. It is not a law firm, healthcare provider, emergency service, or financial advisor. Wellness Check-In is a scheduled check-in feature, not emergency monitoring; email delivery is not guaranteed and FinalFile cannot contact emergency services.
A sensible first step is a short inventory of what exists, where originals are, and which notes need updating. You can add one useful record at a time.
