A useful vault starts with clear categories
Important records are easier to revisit when they have a predictable home. FinalFile groups the Document Vault into Identity & Family, Home & Property, Legal & Wishes, and Other Records. Use the categories to keep a concise set of records together without turning the vault into a dumping ground.
Supported uploads include PDF, JPEG, and PNG files. The per-file ceiling is 10 MB, while total file and storage allowances depend on the membership tier configured for your account. Check your current Billing page before uploading a large set.
What “encrypted before storage” means
FinalFile's application encrypts uploaded vault files before saving them to its private file storage. File access is intended for the account owner through the app. Keep your encryption key backed up separately and securely: if the key is lost, the encrypted files may not be recoverable.
Be careful with sensitive information. Do not store passwords, bank-login credentials, or private cryptographic keys as organizer content. An organized copy also does not replace an original when an institution or professional requires the signed document.
Privacy includes being precise about sharing
FinalFile's Trusted Contacts area stores a name and contact details. Adding someone there does not give them access to the vault, notes, or Will content. Treat contact details and document permissions as separate things, and do not assume any sharing access exists unless the product clearly provides it.
Keep the vault useful over time
- Choose records you expect to need or refer to.
- Give each copy a clear name and note its date if versions matter.
- Replace outdated copies thoughtfully, and confirm the correct version before relying on it.
- Maintain a separate backup plan for originals and for your encryption key.
FinalFile is a personal organizer, not a security certification or a promise that a service can replace professional records management. Review current product and account details before adding sensitive files.
